What does it look like to be Openhanded?
Christ calls us to honor Him with every part of our lives — including our finances. Decisions about spending, giving, work, investing, and legacy formation are all spiritual decisions. Our mission is to help Christians use their resources wisely, avoid the traps of fear and materialism, and align their wealth with what lasts forever.

Meet Nick Garofolo
"I’m Nick — a Christian, husband, father, and financial planner who believes that money not only reflects our hearts, it directs our hearts.
I’ve been in financial planning and small-business finance for over a decade, but what drives me isn’t spreadsheets or markets — it’s the desire to do well and be found faithful by the One who owns it all. I’ve seen how confusing the modern financial world can be, and I believe Christians shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, my goal is simple: help you understand what God has entrusted to you, make wise decisions with it, and build a life marked by peace, generosity, and long-term faithfulness.

This question is close to our founder's heart and a driving force behind our business. We help you steward well, serve others, reinvest in the future and advance His kingdom.

The end of a career is just the beginning of your ministry.
There's no such thing as retirement for the Christian! The end of our careers is the beginning of new and fruitful ministries that the Lord provides with the time he has graciously provided. Openhanded seeks to help retirees plan well for the golden years while giving you paths to generosity and service.

Stewardship starts right now.
Every Christian should ask themselves how they can maximize the impact of the financial blessings the Lord has given them. Openhanded meets individuals at every state where they're at. Whether you're in your first job with 401k questions, started your business, or anything else, Openhanded can help you sort through your financial picture.

FAQs
The Bible talks about money constantly — not because God needs our cash, but because money reflects and directs our hearts. Scripture calls us stewards of what God provides. That means we don’t own any of this. We’re tenant farmers on God’s land. So we should eschew the love of money, reject greed, embrace generosity, provide for our families, and give with open hands. Money is a tool for worship, not a scorecard for success. For further insights, I would definitely suggest signing up for my weekly newsletter , checking out this blog, and reading this book.
Yes — I’m a fee-only fiduciary and a CFP® candidate. That means I’ve completed the education and passed the CFP® exam, and I’m currently finishing the required industry experience to earn the full marks. I don’t sell products, earn commissions, or take kickbacks — my only job is to give you clear, honest, biblically grounded financial guidance.
Yes. I regularly advise clients with multi-million-dollar portfolios, concentrated stock positions, deferred comp plans, and complex stewardship decisions. The size of the account isn’t the point — the calling is to steward it wisely, understanding it’s not your money or mine, it’s God’s. My role is to help you invest with conviction, reduce unnecessary risk, and align your investing with Biblical values.
Ha! Never. Stewardship starts the day God puts resources in your hands — whether that’s your first job, marriage, inheritance, or a large retirement portfolio. The earlier you get clarity around giving, spending, saving, and investing, the more margin and peace you build over time. You don’t need to be “wealthy” to begin; you just need a desire to honor Christ with what He’s entrusted with you.
